Firm Overview

Placing the client first. Benjamin A. Baker has practiced law in the State of Texas since 1989. Mr. Baker moved to Grayson County in 1992, and since that time has served clients in Sherman, Denison, and other parts of Grayson, Cooke, Fannin, Collin and Lamar Counties. Throughout his career, Mr. Baker has demonstrated a strong commitment to old fashioned values and an unfaltering dedication to the ethical obligations owed to his clients. Mr. Baker’s approach to the practice of law is to provide legal representation of the highest caliber in the most cost effective manner possible.

Mr. Baker also recognizes that each client’s problems have unique characteristics, and that each client has different life and business experiences which will determine the client’s objectives and definitions of success. Because of this understanding, Mr. Baker approaches each new case with the attitude that creativity is the key to fashioning a strategy for success. Mr. Baker shuns the “cookie-cutter” approach to the practice of law and will provide the kind of personalized representation that makes each client feel that their story was zealously and effectively told, and that they had a meaningful day in court. Some have said that the key to Mr. Baker’s practice is that he “thinks outside the box.”

Whether your need for an attorney arises out of a serious and disabling injury, the death of a loved one, an unfortunate divorce involving matters of child custody or property division, a bad consumer transaction, or a frivolous suit against your business, you can rest assured that Mr. Baker will undertake those steps necessary to provide you with competent, aggressive and zealous representation.

A small town practice with big firm technology. In order to maximize the effectiveness of his representation, Mr. Baker has made the financial commitment towards procuring state of the art technology. This includes litigation support software, internet client communications, internet client document transmittal, internet legal research, and computerized billing software.

Mr. Baker also realizes that a vast amount of human communication is non-verbal. For this reason, the firm has acquired the equipment necessary to conduct the in-house videotaping of the depositions of opposing parties and key fact witnesses. This equipment includes a professional grade digital video recorder (Sony model no. DSR-PDX10) to ensure that each deposition is clearly recorded, and a state of the art sound board to ensure that the testimony and statements of all deposition participants, whether witnesses or attorneys, are preserved for the hearing of the jury at trial. Mr. Baker has also acquired software packages which facilitate the scrolling of deposition testimony simultaneously with the playing of the actual video deposition. Because this video recording is conducted “in-house,” it is more financially practical to record depositions in a case, regardless of the anticipated monetary value of the case, and the availability of a videographer is always insured.

Finally, in our modern society, most people best learn through a combination of visual and auditory information. Acknowledging this trend, the firm has acquired a state of the art digital data projector (Mitsubishi Model No. XD300U; 2100 lumens) with an accompanying five foot projector screen. Utilizing this technology, Mr. Baker can rely upon available software packages to integrate a point by point presentation of the strengths of a party’s case, which can then be interwoven with relevant videotaped deposition clips to support the points of the presentation. This technology creates a powerful tool for communication, which can persuade an adjustor at mediation to offer more than he originally contemplated, or which can be used to ensure that a jury has a full understanding of the elements of proof which Mr. Baker’s client must prove in order to obtain a favorable outcome at trial.

Benjamin A. Baker’s commitment to state of the art technology will ensure that your case is presented in the most effective manner possible, thereby maximizing the prospects for a successful resolution of your case.

A lawyer’s office where you feel at home. Mr. Baker understands that for many clients, seeking representation from an attorney can be an anxious, uncomfortable experience. Because of this realization, Mr. Baker’s office is designed to curb that anxiety and discomfort as much as possible. Mr. Baker realizes that his ability to effectively represent you hinges upon your ability to communicate with him in an open and relaxed manner . The Law Offices of Benjamin A. Baker, is located in an arts and crafts style home originally built in 1929 by Thomas Smith, one of Grayson County’s original school superintendents . The interior and exterior portions of the residence have been fully converted to office use, but the original feel of the home has been maintained. Mr. And Mrs. Baker personally participated in the design and remodeling of the home, and feel confident that your time there will be as comfortable as possible. The office is fully accessible to persons with a disability, and is compliant with the ADA. The Law Offices of Benjamin A. Baker, P.C., is the 2005 winner of the Sherman Preservation League’s award for adaptive reuse.
