Benjamin A. Baker was born in Denison, Texas on October 3, 1962. Mr. Baker
graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington(UTA) in 1986 with a B.A. degree in Political
Science and a minor in sociology. While at UTA Mr. Baker was a member of the Alpha Chi academic
fraternity and graduated in the top 5% of his class. Mr. Baker also worked a full time job
throughout his undergraduate education, demonstrating his commitment to hard work and a desire
for excellence.
Mr. Baker attended the Baylor University School of Law in Waco, Texas, and
graduated from that institution in 1989, with a Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, Mr.
Baker was inducted into the Order of Barristers, a distinction which is given only to those
students who demonstrate superior skills in the school's moot court competition. Mr. Baker was
also a member of the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity. Mr. Baker passed the State of Texas Bar
Examination in November of 1989, and achieved a score high enough to entitle him to automatic
admission in five other states.
Following law school, Mr. Baker worked in a number of practice environments,
which provided him exposure to virtually all aspects of the legal profession, including insurance
defense, criminal defense, commercial litigation, family law, and the representation of person's
injured by the negligence of others. This wide spread exposure to many areas of the law has provided
Mr. Baker a well rounded legal background which facilitates his representation of client's whose
cases involve those areas of the law in which he now focuses. Mr. Baker established a solo practice
in June of 2002, and maintains his own offices in Sherman, Texas.
Mr. Baker is admitted by the State of Texas to practice in all state courts,
including all trial courts, appellate courts, and the Texas Supreme Court. Mr. Baker also maintains
admission to practice in the United States Federal District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas,
the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Baker is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the
Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), and the Grayson County Bar Association. Mr. Baker is also a
sustaining member of the Baylor University School of Law Alumni Association. |
